New Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola believes competing with his old nemesis Jose Mourinho in the Premier League will help him in reaching even greater levels as a manager.
Guardiola and newly-appointed Manchester United manager Mourinho are known for sharing a turbulent relationship when they were coaching two of the Spain's footballing powerhouses,Barcelona and Real Madrid, respectively in the La Liga.
While speaking at his first official press conference as City's new manager, Guardiola said that competing with the top managers could bring out best in him.
"[Mourinho] wants to win, I want to win. We know each other pretty well from before at Barcelona. I think it's great that top managers are here [in the Premier League] - big managers take me as a manager to a different level," Guardiola was quoted as saying by goal.com.
The 45-year-old said that it would also be interesting to compete against Chelsea's new signing Antonio Conte.
"It's going to be interesting.Conte is a master tactician, I think he's a great signing for Chelsea. It's going to be very interesting competing against him. Claudio Ranieri too, Ronald Koeman at Everton as well," he added.
Former Bayern Munich manager Guardiola replaced Manuel Pellegrini as the new manager of City by signing a three-year deal of more than 15 million Euros a year.
