Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik acted in an objective and impartial manner while making the decision to dissolve the state's Legislative Assembly, the J-K Raj Bhavan spokesperson clarified in a statement on Tuesday.

"There was no pressure or any kind of intervention from the Centre in the entire matter and some News Channels are misinterpreting Governor's statement and putting them out of context to convey that there was pressure from the Central Government," the statement read.

The Governor had dissolved the Assembly late on November 21, hours after arch-rivals National Conference (NC) and People's Democratic Party (PDP) allied together with the Congress Party and staked a claim to form the government in the state. The three-way alliance claimed to have the numbers to form the government in the state.

The Governor Malik's decision garnered huge flak from a number of political leaders, who alleged Centre's involvement in the decision and termed the move "politically-motivated".

Earlier on November 22, in an official statement, Malik said that he took the decision due to "the impossibility of forming a stable government by the coming together of political parties with opposing political ideologies including some which have been demanding the dissolution of the Assembly.
