Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin reportedly participated in a separating ritual while holidaying in the Bahamas.

A friend close to the star couple asserted that they took part in a beach ritual performed by a Kabbalah Rabbi on what they called their "break-up moon", the Daily Star reported.

According to sources, the Grammy winning musician and Oscar winning actress underwent the ceremony to prepare for difficult times ahead.

The couple's friend said that Paltrow and Martin woke up at 5am in the Bahamas for daily counseling and joint meditation sessions and they were still extremely close and wanted to make this as trouble-free for the kids as they could.

The friend added that the 41-year-old actress urged that the divorce shouldn't be seen as a sign of failure but as an 'inevitable circumstance'.
