Australian vice-captain Brad Haddin has hailed the 'Generation Y' players of his team and said that they have the potential to change the game.

Haddin presents Steve Smith as one player who embodies everything that makes Gen Y a breed of cricketers with match-winning abilities after Smith scored 100 in Australia's first innings of the opening Test against South Africa by mixing a series of unorthodox shots with textbook strokes.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Haddin marveled at the skills and ability of the younger players including Smith, David Warner, Jackson Bird, James Pattinson and Mitchell Starc coming through the ranks, saying that they take advice when offered and are respectful of their seniors.

Haddin also said that he likes playing with the youngsters as they pose a challenge, adding that with Darren Lehmann as coach, the team can create an environment where the players can flourish.

Haddin also said it was crucial he and the national team's other senior players provided the up-and-comers with the proper guidance.
