Veteran anti-graft crusader Anna Hazare on Wednesday criticised Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal for using his name during the election campaign, and demanded an explanation.

Earlier, in a letter to Kejriwal, Hazare had asked for clarifications whether his name was being used in any form while campaigning for upcoming polls in Delhi, which is scheduled on December 4.

Hazare has been accused in a court case regarding SIM cards that were issued in his name during his Jan Lokpal Movement.

Addressing mediapersons in his Ralegaon Siddhi, a small town in Maharashtra, Hazare said that he was facing legal action because his name was used for the SIM card.

"I am not completely satisfied as two things are still pending. Firstly, they brought out this SIM card with the name of Anna and because of that I am now facing charges and might have to appear in a court. Why did they do that? What was the reason for it? I am sending another letter seeking an explanation," said Hazare.

The AAP, also known as common man's party, is an upstart political party forged in the crucible of an anti-corruption movement that swept India two years ago.

Kejriwal is an uncompromising anti-corruption crusader who has tapped into a vein of urban anger over the venality of the political class after a string of breathtaking graft scandals.

The AAP has surprisingly up-ended the calculations of mainstream parties in the race for control of the capital, Delhi, which goes to the polls in December and will set the stage for a national election due by May.

AAP is contesting all 70 seats in the Delhi state legislature.
