Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood believes that his side are lagging behind the other teams when it comes to the shortest format of the game, suggesting that his T20 side would serve better if they play more matches before heading into big tournaments.

Hazlewood's comments came after his side suffered a three-wicket defeat at the hands of weakened West Indies in the warm-up match on Sunday ahead of the World T20.

The 25-year-old said that Mahendra Singh Dhoni's side had prepared well for the tournament by playing a lot of T20 games, Sport24 reported.

Hazlewood, however, said that his side were getting better in the format, but added that there was still a room for improvement.

Fellow paceman John Hastings also expressed his views on their preparation for their upcoming T20 pinnacle campaign.

Hastings said that Australia had got a pretty settled T20 team after the South Africa tour, adding that he hopes that the players would execute their skills well in the tournament.

Australia will begin their World T20 campaign against New Zealand at HPCA Stadium Dharamsala on March 18.
