A number of Hollywood's notable names have reportedly chipped in USD 15.6 million to Priority USA Action, a super PAC backing U.S. presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, over the past three months.

CBS News quoted Guy Cecil, the group's chief strategist and co-chairman, as saying that they received USD 12.5 million in the past four weeks alone.

The list of celebratory donors includes, DreamWorks CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg and producer/directors Steven Spielberg and JJ Abrams. Several major players in the financial industry like George Soros, Donald Sussman and Haim Saban have also contributed.

Clinton's campaign had declared on Wednesday that it was 'on track' to raise over USD 45 million during the quarter that started on April 1 and ended on June 30. The previous record for primary money raised in a candidate's first quarter was set by President Barack Obama during his 2012 re-election campaign, when USD 41.9 million were amassed over three months in 2011.

Meanwhile, the Priorities USA Action team has said that it will concentrate on paid media and will run a campaign that would be 'groundbreaking' for its use of data to target ads at voters.
