Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Tuesday said he hoped that the opposition gets some 'resipiscence' (change of mind or heart) and takes steps to get the Juvenile Justice Bill passed during the Winter Session of Parliament.

"We had listed this bill 12 times in the Monsoon Session. We hope that people who are not letting this bill get passed get resipiscence and let this bill get passed," Naqvi told ANI.

"The mood seems positive here outside, there seems to be a consensus to pass the Bill, let us see what happens within the House," he added.

Meanwhile, Union Minister for Minority Affairs Najma Heptulla sounded confident of getting the Bill passed from the Upper House.

"If the opposition has some credibility and respect, it would let the Bill get passed. It is for the security of the girls of our country," she said.

The Rajya Sabha has decided to take up the legislation for discussion at 2 pm today.

The decision comes against the backdrop of the Supreme Court's rejections of plea by the Delhi Commission of Women (DCW) against release of the juvenile offender in December 2012 gang rape case.
