Security expert Qamar Agha on Friday said the Hurriyat wants to 'scuttle' the NSA-level talks between New Delhi and Islamabad, adding that they were backed by Pakistan.
Speaking to the ANI, Qamar Agha said: "India wants that these talks should be focused on terror. the Hurriyat is trying to scuttle the talks, derail the whole issue. They are being backed by Pakistan. Pakistan is also nervous, they do not want to talk only about terror, they want to link the Kashmir issue".
Pakistan's High Commissioner to India, Abdul Basit, had extended an invitation to the Hurriyat hardline chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani and other Hurriyat leaders to meet Sartaj Aziz on August 23.
India has cautioned Pakistan not to go ahead with these meeting.
Last year, India had cancelled the Foreign Secretary-level talks with Pakistan after Basit met Kashmiri separatists ahead of the planned meet.
