On the eve of 69th Independence Day celebration an exhibition cum competition of ornamental plants was organised here.
The two-day programme was organised by the Horticultural Society of Tripura at the Rabinda Kanan park here.
Hundreds of ornamental leaf plants of different colours and sizes attracted large number of people.
The prime aim of the show was to encourage people towards horti and floriculture which can be an extra means of income even in small land holdings in cities as there is an increasing demand for them.
People gathered to get a view of the various colourful ornamental leaf plants which are mainly kept to decorate houses and work places beside use in flower bouquets.
Various privately owned nurseries and government institutes participated in the show among whom prizes were distributed.
A cultural programme was also organised on the occation.
