Kirti Azad, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lawmaker and former Test cricketer, on Wednesday called it the party's 'misfortune' if they have suspended him for fighting for the truth and upholding the anti-corruption morals of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
"It is weird how the party has sidelined a person fighting for truth. I have never spoken against the party. The person talking of truth is thrown out of the party and is called 'anti-party'. I am just following Prime Minister's policy of 'neither will I be corrupt, nor will I let others be'," Azad said, after the saffron party announced his suspension for publicly targeting Finance Minister Arun Jaitley with allegations of corruption in Delhi's cricket body DDCA.
He also added that he is yet to receive the suspension letter from the party.
Azad also justified his action saying, "This is the fault of the party. I've been telling them about the issue from nine years. I did not say anything against anyone personally. The issue that was mine has now been picked up by the Aam Aadmi Party."
When asked what he will do next, Azad said, "Wait and watch my next move."
Earlier today, The BJP, in a one-line statement, said that Azad has been suspended for 'anti-party activities'.
Azad, the three term 56-year-old MP from Darbhanga in Bihar, defied party chief Amit Shah's whip and held a press conference on Sunday, all but naming the finance minister while alleging deep corruption in the Delhi and District Cricket Association or DDCA, which Arun Jaitley headed for 13 years.
