An independent commission of the International Cricket Council (ICC) has reportedly exonerated Cricket South Africa (CSA) chief executive Haroon Lorgat from allegations against him regarding the Indian cricket board.

The allegations investigated by the independent inquiry centred on the facts that Lorgat knew that David Becker, a former legal advisor to CSA, would be publicly accusing the BCCI of breaching rules regarding the ICC's Future Tours Programme and was involved in the preparation of Becker's media statement.

According to Sport24, however, an independent adjudicator fully exonerated Lorgat from all or any blame in relation to the allegations made against him and removed all restrictions on his ability to perform his role as CSA CEO and restrictions on his communications with or involvement in matters related to the BCCI.

Happy at the decision, Lorgat said that he now looks forward to getting on with the real challenges that CSA needs to deal with, adding that he is grateful to the board, the players and the fans for their unequivocal support.

Welcoming the decision, CSA president Chris Nenzani said that the board would like to reiterate its full trust and confidence in Lorgat as its chief executive, adding that they have always been satisfied and impressed with the progress made under his leadership.
