Activists led by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan reportedly staged protest against the US drone strikes and threatened to block the NATO supply routes if the strikes continued.

More than 15,000 activists participated in the rally, in which they burned US flags and chanted anti-US slogans in Peshawar.

According to the Daily Times, Khan called for a complete blockade of NATO convoys to Afghanistan in a bid to pressurize the US to abandon its drone programme.

He said that they will not allow NATO supplies to pass from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and will stop the drone strikes.

The report said that NATO supplies were suspended on Saturday because of the rally, which was held on same route used by NATO trucks.

PTI Peshawar chapter General Secretary Younas Zaheer Mohmand further announced that the activists will begin joining the sit-in near Hayatabad toll plaza to block NATO supplies as long as drone strikes are not halted.

The drone strikes are seen by the lawmakers are a threat to Pakistan's peace and sovereignty and Khan had earlier set a November 20 deadline for halting of drone strikes, but now he intends to take the issue to Pakistan's top court and if required, to the International Court of Justice, the report added.
