India not interested in Rahul Gandhi's lessons, more keen on work and commitment: BJP

Launching a scathing attack Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, who has asked his party cadres to speak in positive tones, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday said the former can continue imparting lessons, but the nation today is more concerned about the deteriorating condition of the economy and not interested in speeches.

"He (Rahul Gandhi) can give lessons and continue doing so. But what the country today wants to know and see is work and commitment. They have heard enough of speeches. But, there has been increase in poverty. One dollar was equal to one rupee in 1947; today it's at around Rs. 60. So, 60 percent assets have gone out of this country," said BJP spokesperson Meenakshi Lekhi.

Addressing a Congress media conclave earlier in the day, Gandhi asked his party men to stand united and speak in a positive note as the 2014 Lok Sabha polls draw closer.

"Let's get talent from states. Let youth and seniors work together," he said.

Several Congress veterans, including Finance Minister P. Chidambaram and Union Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh, will address the key sessions during the two-day programme.

A statement from All India Congress Committee (AICC) said the party will also unveil its social platform 'Khidki' for about 200 spokespersons from across the country, encouraging them to use it as a window of opportunity, besides giving them lessons in the do's and don'ts of electronic media.

The programme will also conclude with round-table discussions in ten groups organised for spokespersons from states and NSUI and Youth Congress representatives on a host of current topics.
