India's secularism will fail if social harmony breaks: Giriraj Singh

Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Giriraj Singh on Sunday backed the RSS call for national population policy to correct 'demographic imbalance', saying India's secularism will fail if its social harmony breaks.

"Control of population is important for development. If we control population, then we will be able to bring development in the country. If India's social harmony breaks then its secularism will also fail," Singh told ANI in Patna.

RSS ideologue Rakesh Sinha also voiced his opinion in support and said the Hindu population has decreased after 2011 which is a cause of concern.

"After 1951, the Hindu population is decreasing and the Muslim population is increasing. This is the first time that the Hindu population has decreased after 2011. This is a ringing bell," Sinha told ANI in the national capital.

"The alarm bell has rung and those who have to listen will listen. This might be a conspiracy to create Hindu a dying race. We should consider that Hindu is not a dying race," he added.

Expressing concern over the growing population percentage of the non-Indian religions, the RSS had yesterday said the comparative study between the census of 1951 and that of 2011 had revealed 'worrisome' facts.
