India on Thursday successfully testfired the nuclear-capable Prithvi-II missile from a military base in Odisha.

The missile test was reportedly carried out from a mobile launcher, from launch complex-3 of the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur in the Balasore district of the state, around 230 kilometres away from Bhubaneswar.

The Prithvi is the first missile to have been inducted into the armed forces and is one of the five missiles being developed under the country's Integrated Guided Missile Development.
