India has achieved an overpowering victory over West Indies in the first Test, after beating them by an innings and 51 runs, in a match where debutants Rohit Sharma and Mohammad Shami stole the show.
Shami got nine wickets in total in the Test, getting a five-wicket haul in the second innings.
Earlier, Rohit Sharma had scored a highly impressive 177 in his debut Test match.
West Indies were bowled out for 168 in their second innings after India scored 453 in their first, following the visitors' 234 in the first innings.
Ravichandran Ashwin became the first Indian player to score a hundred and take five wickets in a Test match, twice.
The match was Sachin Tendulkar's 199th Test match and he will play his last in Mumbai last week but he could not do much to charm the crowd except taking a wicket.
However, Tendulkar's dismissal caused enough controversy of its own because he was adjudged leg before wicket in a delivery where the ball was seemingly going over the wicket.
Dhoni said that team selection for the match was a tricky one.
