Indian poet-diplomat Abhay Kumar made the country proud as his song 'Earth Anthem' was performed by Brasilia's Symphony Orchestra of the National Theatre.
The orchestra was performed under the guidance of Maestro Claudio Cohen for group's first ever performance in 2018.
Kumar wrote this song in 2008 at St. Petersberg in Russia, inspired by blue marble image of Earth taken by the spaceship Apollo 18 and the ancient Indian thought 'Vasudeva Kutumbakam' translated as 'the world is one family'.
It was later composed in 2013 in Kathmandu, Nepal.
World-renowned violin maestro Dr L. Subramaniam composed the song that was later recorded by Bollywood singer Kavita Krishnamurthi.
Now, Dr Subramaniam and Abhay Kumar are working together to bring musicians from all corners of the world to contribute to making the 'Earth Anthem' a global one.
The song has been recorded in eight languages, including six official United Nations languages. It was launched in June 2013 at a function organised by the Indian Council of Cultural Relations on the occasion of the World Environment Day.
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) has called the idea of having a common 'Earth Anthem' a creative and inspiring thought that would contribute to bringing the world together.
Further, Nobel Laureate and social worker, child rights activist Kailash Satyarthi also lauded the efforts of Abhay to write a common anthem for the planet.
