Indian Consulate General in Nepal, Anju Ranjan, on Sunday said India has not issued any blockade at the border and added it has been done by the local Madhesi people, who were pressing for incorporation of their demands in the newly adopted Constitution.

"India has not issued any blockade. It has been done by the Madheshi people, who are doing this for their demand," Ranjan told ANI here.

Ranjan said Nepal should have discussed their concerns with India before raising it in the UN.

The Indian Consulate General also appealed to Nepal to resolve the issue though dialogue and negotiations.

"The talks between India and Nepal are still on. Sunil Thapa went there as a special envoy to talk to Nepal. India has always maintained a clear stand that there is no blockade from our side," she added.

Ranjan further said India and Nepal are natural neighbours.

"We have an open border 1,875 km and trade is on.
