Inzamam hints at Hafeez's comeback after Pak's recent batting collapse

After Pakistan suffered two batting collapses in the ongoing opening Test against New Zealand, chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq has hinted at Mohammad Hafeez's inclusion in the national squad, saying the all-rounder might be brought back into the team if the need arises.

"We can bring Hafeez back into the team if we need him. Players who will under-perform consistently will be removed to make way for others," Hafeez was quoted as saying by the Express Tribune.

Pakistan are on the verge of the defeat in the Christchurch Test after being bundled out for 133 in the first innings and then being reduced to 129-7 in the second innings at the Hagley Oval.

When asked about what went wrong against the Kane Williamson-led side, Inzamam insisted that New Zealand wickets are different and, therefore, the team need some time to adjust.

"We were hoping for a good performance from the team but they couldn't deliver. However, the New Zealand wickets are different and we should give some time to the team to adjust," he added.

Inzamam, however, remained optimistic that his team would "make a comeback" in the second and final match, beginning at Seddon Park in November 25.
