The prosecutor who investigated Woody Allen more than 20 years ago has revealed that it's late to prosecute him.

The Connecticut prosecutor, who had investigated him on child molestation claims but didn't file charges, told The Associated Press that as the statute of limitations on Dylan Farrow's accusations ran out at least 15 years ago, the film director cannot be prosecuted, the New York Post reported.

Frank Maco had admitted in 1993 that he believed Allen had molested his adopted daughter but decided against charging him to avoid a traumatic trial for the young girl.

However, the 78-year-old American screenwriter has denied the accusations.
