ITBP exhibits rare artifacts of remote Himalyan regions

Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Kumari Selja on Sunday inaugurated an exhibition showcasing stalls from field units and formations of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) here.

This exhibition has been organized by Himveer Wives' Welfare Association (HWWA), welfare arm of the ITBP, on the occasion of 52nd Raising Day celebrations of the Force.

Kumari Selja said that HWWA's efforts are commendable in the field of welfare activities in ITBP, and congratulated HWWA for showcasing the rare products and culture of the remote Himalayan region in the exhibition, and added that it gives a message of integrity and diversity to the nation.

President of HWWA Dr. Nikhat Mahboob said that HWWA contributes in its own humble way to make the lives of the Force personnel and their families more meaningful and enriched.

The fund generated in this exhibition helps in furthering of HWWA's goals.

The exhibition showcases the skills of ITBP families and welfare activities undertaken by HWWA and ITBP.

It exhibits products prepared and manufactured in the welfare centers of the battalions located all over India. The exhibition also showcases the rare artifact, handicraft and cultural heritage of the Himalayas. The proceeds from the exhibition are utilized for the welfare of the Force personnel.

HWWA works for the welfare of the families of the Force personnel with a specific focus on women empowerment. It trains families in food processing, tailoring, weaving, stitching, beautician course, home management, computer training, yoga classes, embroidery, pattern making, painting and child care.

Various field Units and Formations of ITBP have displayed a wide variety of products to the HWWA exibition, like carpets, shawls, dry fruits, herbal products, cane furniture's, Lucknowi chikkan embroidery, chanderi saries and wood carvings from various parts of country.

A special stall showcasing the history, training, operations, welfare activities and adventure sports in ITBP was a centre of attraction.

There will be numerous cultural performances by the ITBP personnel along with show by ITBP's Jazz, Brass and Pipe Band.

HWWA was registered in 1994 and has been active in organising welfare activities for the families of the Force and Civil population in border areas.

The exhibition will remain open for the public from October 27 to October 29.
