New Wimbledon Champion Andy Murray's coach Ivan Lendl believes the Scot is the world's real No.1, despite the world rankings on Monday still showing his final opponent Novak Djokovic as the best player, along with Murray remaining at No.2.

According to The Independent, the Olympic gold medallist is nearly 3000 points behind Novak Djokovic, the man he beat in Sunday's final at the All England Club, even as he gained 2000 ranking points for this feat.

Lendl had pointed out that while Murray held two Grand Slam titles, no other player had won more than one Grand Slam tournament in the last 12 months, the report said.

The coach said that Andy had got to the final of Wimbledon, followed by the Olympic Gold, followed by winning the US Open, followed by the final of the Australian Open and followed by winning Wimbledon, adding that this showed remarkable consistency which was never easy.

Meanwhile, Murray also said that the ranking systems did not reflect a player's qualities perfectly and players were more remembered for the Slams they win, adding that the World No.1 position was not a particular goal.
