J-K government imparts technical training to unemployed youth

In an endeavour to impart technical education to nearly 20, 000 unemployed youth, the Jammu and Kashmir government is taking all possible steps.

The youth are trained to acquire skills to become a welder, electrician, stenographer, tailor, fashion designer, and they are also given computer training as well.

Boys and girls in the Kathua town expressed their happiness with the initiation of such courses as it would help them to secure their future.

Shilpa Sharma, a student who was enrolled for a computer course said that the knowledge acquired by her would help not only her but others as well.

"In our computer course we are given basic knowledge of languages and basic fundamentals. It is very beneficial for our future because we are learning a lot from here and before joining this institute we had no knowledge but now we have learnt many things. So in future, whatever we have learnt we can teach others as well," said Sharma.

Students also feel that the training will help restoration of peace and development in the area.

Another computer student Opinder Kumar said that more and more courses should be introduced so that more and more employment opportunities are created.

"I think it will be beneficial when new business comes up, then more students will get a chance and thereby our area will become technically sound and employment opportunities will also increase," said Kumar.

The government of Jammu and Kashmir plans to open 18 Polytechnique Colleges in 18 districts of the state so that the unemployed youth would get jobs in both public and private sectors.

The youth in the valley would also get monetary assistance from the government so that they could start their own business.
