A Police Head Constable, Ashiq Hussain, was shot dead by terrorists on Monday near Awantipora's Padgampora village in Pulwama.
This incident came hours after the Indian Army, earlier in the day, foiled three infiltration bids and had also gunned down two terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Tangdhar district.
The army has also recovered weapons.
Earlier in the day, Major General R.P. Kalita informed that as many as "60-70 terrorists were present on the launching pads in Pakistan and were ready to infiltrate in India."
General Kalita said the terrorists are ready to infiltrate through the 19th infantry division of Baramulla from Gulmarg to Naugam of Jammu and Kashmir.
