Jay-Z has given credit to hip-hop music for breaking down the barriers between races and believes it's harder for parents to teach racism if they look upto black rappers like Snoop Dogg.

The 'Empire State of Mind' hitmaker asserted in a video made for Oprah Winfrey that according to him hip hop has done more for racial relations than most cultural icons, the Mirror reported.

The 45-year-old rapper continued that rap music didn't only influence kids from urban areas and people listen to this music all around the world, and they took to this music.

The American rapper, who spoke on the occasion of a month-long celebration honoring civil rights legends, continued that save Martin Luther King, because his dream speech they realized when President Obama got elected.

Jay-Z added that now, people party together, and once one have people partying, dancing, and singing along to the same music, then conversations naturally happens after that.
