Janata Dal (United) chief Sharad Yadav, who has issued showcause notice to two ministers in Bihar after taking a strong note of their controversial remarks on the killing of soldiers along the Line of Control (LoC), today warned the other leaders of his party not to make comments on sensitive national issues.
"I warn everyone in the party that no one is allowed to make comments on sensitive national issues," said Yadav.
"We have sent a notice to Bhim Singh and Narendra Singh. They have to reply in seven days and if required further action will also be taken," he added, while asserting that the Janata Dal (United) has faced embarrassment due to their comments.
In an insult to the men in uniform, Bhim Singh, who is Bihar's Panchayati Raj Minister, had earlier said that policemen and soldiers join to make sacrifices for the nation. He, however, later apologised for his remark after Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar intervened.
Bhim Singh's party colleague Narendra Singh, who is Bihar's Agriculture Minister, a few days later gave a clean chit to Pakistan over the killings along the LoC.
"I don't believe that Pakistan is responsible for the incident on Tuesday," he said.
The Bihar Chief Minister had earlier on Thursday expressed regret for the insensitive comment made by his Bhim Singh on soldiers killed by Pakistani troops at the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir, and revealed that he spoke to him immediately on knowing about it.
"I regret what my colleague has said. I apologise and express regret over the remark. We salute the sacrifice made by the martyrs," he said.
