Jharkhand Police have arrested one suspect involved in the illegal transaction of funds to the militant Indian Mujahideen (IM) outfit that was responsible for the October 27 serial blasts in Patna's Gandhi Maidan, where a BJP rally was addressed by its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi.

Gopal Goyal was arrested yetserday as he was transferring funds illegally to bank accounts in Dhanbad and sending the money to IM members.

It maybe recalled that at least six explosions rocked Gandhi Maidan on that day, killing five persons and injuring 83.

Police said Goyal is being questioned.

"We got to know about some illegal transactions which were related to blasts in Bihar. We are investigating into the matter and all the suspicious transactions are being verified. We are investigating in coordination with Bihar police. We are questioning few people, investigating and verifying accounts," said Dhanbad's Superintendent of Police Anoop T. Matthew.

Police had earlier arrested two to three accused in the case from different areas of eastern India.

While Modi was not in the vicinity of any of the blasts, it was a reminder of India's bloody political history of the last three decades.

The rally was intended to be the BJP's show of strength in Bihar following the break of a 17-year-old alliance with the ruling Janata Dal-United (JD-U) party, which is led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
