PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday urged the leaders of various political parties not to voice their opinion on the JNU controversy and said the concerned courts must decide whether students union president Kanhaiya Kumar or Umar Khalid is guilty or not

Mufti said the constitution must prevail upon whatever is happening at the JNU.

"We should leave the decision upon the courts to decide whether one is a culprit or not. I feel the political parties should not advocate that one is guilty or is innocent. They should come out of it," Mehbooba told the media here.

"Whether it is Kanhaiya or Umar Khalid, the courts should decide as to who is the culprits. The media or the terrorists should not decide and indict anyone as guilty," she added.

The Delhi High Court is likely to hear on Monday the bail plea of JNU students union president Kanhaiya Kumar, who was arrested from the university campus last week on sedition charges.

Kanhaiya had approached the apex court after being assaulted by a group of lawyers at the Patiala House Court complex on Wednesday. On Friday, security was beefed up inside and outside the High Court premises minutes before Kanhaiya's lawyers, escorted by police, arrived to mention their plea.
