Journeyman golfer retracts provocative 'failed drug test' allegations on Woods over PGA absence

Journeyman golfer Dan Olsen has retracted his provocative allegations that former world number one Tiger Woods was serving a suspension for a failed drug test, after he claimed last week that the American's absence from the PGA Tour was not due to an injured back or needing to improve his game.

During a radio show, 730AM The Game in Lansing, Michigan last week, Olsen said that he heard that Woods is suspended, adding that he heard the golfer is on a month's suspension. And he insisted that it's not, claiming that it's kind of a strong witness.

Olsen had claimed on Friday that it was a credible person that was telling him this, adding that it's not testosterone, but it's something else. He had said that he believes when it was all said and done, Woods is going to surpass disgrace American cyclist Lance Armstrong with infamy, Stuff.co.nz reported.

Olsen backed off on Monday saying that it was only his opinion. He claimed that everything he had said earlier was only his opinion and not based on any firsthand knowledge or facts.

Olsen claimed that he wants to make a full retraction to everything he said for the entire radio interview, and added that he apologizes to Woods, Nike, Phil Mickelson, commissioner Tim Finchem and the PGA Tour.

Olsen, who last played in a PGA Tour event in 2011 and missed the cut at the PGA Championship, also talked about Woods using a cheater ball, referring to the Nike golf ball he plays, and that those allegations were potentially more damaging than the suspension.

Olsen said that he would be looked at as just some crazy 'f***' nobody making accusations about Woods.

Woods' agent and the PGA Tour vehemently denied the accusations on Monday.

Woods' agent Mark Steinberg said that these claims are absolutely, unequivocally and completely false, adding that they are unsourced, unverified and completely ridiculous.

Executive vice president of the PGA Tour, Ty Votaw, responded to the claims saying that there was no truth whatsoever to these claims, adding that they categorically deny these allegations.

Woods is on leave from the PGA Tour as he tries to sort out issues with his game, especially with his chipping, the report added.
