The Sakrebyle Elephant camp houses as many as 25 elephants, which is over and above its optimal capacity to accommodate 15 pachyderms.
According to Forest officials, recently an adult male pachyderm was captured from Chitradurga and is being taken care of in the camp.
"At Sakrebyle elephant camp we have 25 elephants at present. Earlier there were 24 elephants but we captured another male from Chitradurga. He is not aggressive at all," said M Nagaraj, Deputy Conservator of Forest (Shivamogga).
"We have 25 elephants at Sakrebailu Elephant Camp, our capacity is only 15. Our officers will make a decision on the remaining elephants whether to send them to other camps or to have a new camp," he said.
