Latest TTP attack in Karachi aimed to avenge split created amongst its ranks by ISI

Security expert, Alok Bansal on Tuesday said that the latest terrorist attack in Karachi showed that the morale of the perpetrators in this act was high .

The attackers aimed at crippling the financial hub of Pakistan to avenge the split engineered by the Inter-Services-Intelligence (ISI) within the ranks of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

"There are two or three reasons to this; firstly this attack shows that in many areas in Karachi, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has been able to establish a hub of its own. The manner in which it has launched attack in ASF camp where the aviation security stays goes to show how high their morale is," Bansal said.

" Karachi is the main business hub of Pakistan as all the economic activities take place over here. If the situation continues like this where the activities in the airport remains repeatedly halted then the foreign airlines will slowly pull out from there. This will sound the death knell to Karachi which acts as the financial capital of Pakistan," he added.

"TTP has been baying for the Pakistani army and the Government because the ISI under the garb of talking has created a division amongst its ranks. They think that Karachi is an important place and hence this was attacked. In the first attack also there was insider collusion; there was collusion this time as well. This time it has happened in a residential place," he added.

Bansal was quick to dismiss the allegation by some Pakistani Army officers and LeT chief Hafeez Sayeed suggesting that the terrorists used Indian weapons .

First of all those weapons used in these incidents were not made in India. There is no doubt that those levelling charges against India are living in fools paradise. Basically, they only want to derail the thaw that is being seen between Nawaz Sharif and Narendra Modi holding talks recently. In this way they want to contain the marginalisation of its army.

Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsibility for the attack on ASF Academy near Karachi Airport even as reports say that flight operations have now resumed at the airport.

Military sources have revealed that nine attackers were behind the latest terror act.

Jaag TV quoted rescue workers as saying that the three ASF personnel were injured in firing near the ASF Academy in Pahalwan Goth, which is a kilometer-and-a-half from the airport.

This is the second attack that TTP has claimed responsibility for within the last 24 hours. They had also attacked Karachi Airport on Monday, which had led to the death of 28 people, including 10 militants.
