Rio de Janerio, Aug 15 (ANI): Sajan Prakash, the swimmer from Kerala, who represented India in the 200 meter butterfly event for men at the Rio Olympics, has expressed satisfaction over his performance, saying he learnt a lot from the experience gained at the prestigious quadrennial event.

Prakash, along with Shivani Kataria, the lone Indian swimmers at this year's Olympics, crashed out of the tournament after failing to qualify in their respective 200m butterfly heats event.

"I am too motivated after my event at the Rio Olympics. Now I have to start training really hard for the next Olympics and the Asian Games. I have learnt a lot and now it's time for me and work for the next Olympics," Prakash told ANI.

Talking about his target in the coming days, Prakash said he would now look forward to the Asian Swimming Championship which will be held in December in Tokyo.

"I will try to come under first three in that," he added.

Prakash finished with a time of 1:59:37, marginally behind his own best, which incidentally is also a national record in this discipline, to end the event at 28th spot over all heats.

The 22-year-old, who hails from Kerala, missed the qualifying mark by 2.65 seconds. He was 4.64 seconds behind race leader Tamas Kenderesi of Hungary.

Prakash is a national record holder in 200m butterfly and 1500m freestyle events.
