The Lok Sabha was adjourned sine die on Wednesday after the Lokpal and Lokayukta Bill was passed
Earlier today, the Lok Sabha had reassembled at noon after it was adjourned in the morning. The house took up the bill before members from Andhra Pradesh started slogan shouting against the bifurcation of their state.
Law and Justice Minister Kapil Sibal reiterated that enough discussion had taken place in this house in 2011, and urged the members to pass the bill as amended and passed by the Rajya Sabha yesterday.
Leader of the Opposition Sushma Swaraj made a similar request, adding that the house has not functioned even for a single day during the current session. She said the winter session of the Parliament in 2013 should be remembered for the passing of the Lokpal Bill.
As expected, the Lok Sabha passed the amended version of the Lokpal Bill by a voice vote.
