A recent survey has named London as the most expensive city destination.

The survey conducted by TripAdvisor by comparing prices in 48 leading tourist destinations, found that an evening out in the city and overnight stay in a four-star hotel would cost an average 523 dollars, CNN reported.

The site's annual TripIndex Cities has revealed that seven of the world's 10 most expensive destinations are in Europe, while Asia fields the majority of the list's most affordable cities for a holiday.

The list also warns travelers going to Paris against working up too much of thirst while pounding its boulevards, as the city is identified as the priciest place for pre-dinner cocktails and Stockholm was found to be the costliest place for an evening meal.

According to the survey, a weekend in Hanoi can be cheaper than a meal in Stockholm, while New York tops the list for expensive hotels for the second year running, with a night in a four-star hotel costing an average of 365 dollars, which is four times the price of the same deal in Bangkok.
