Lieutenant General AK Bhatt on Thursday took over as the 47th Corps Commander of Srinagar-based 15 Corps.
Lieutenant General JS Sandhu handed over the charge of 15 Corps, also called as the Chinar Corps, to Lieutenant General Bhatt.
Lt Gen Bhatt was commissioned into the regiment of 9th Gorkha Rifles (Chindits) and has had an illustrious military career.
Before taking over as Chinar Corps Commander, Lieutenant General Bhatt was holding the position of Director General Military Operations (DGMO) in Army Headquarters.
An alumnus of Staff College Camberley (UK), the General officer has also held several appointments in the Army Headquarters.
