West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday slammed the Union Budget presented by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, stating that there was nothing new and that it is not a people friendly budget.
"There was nothing new at all. It's not a people friendly budget. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said nothing about unemployment. Medium and Small scale sectors are still suffering. It is a shame that has introduced only 1 percent education cess," she said
Earlier in the day, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley presented the General Budget 2018-19 in the Parliament.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the Budget was development-friendly and focused not only on the ease of doing business, but also on the ease of living for the common man.
