Lupita Nyong'o will lead the Public Theater's Off-Broadway production of 'Eclipsed.'
The 32-year-old Oscar winner will make her New York stage debut in the production penned by 'The Walking Dead's Danai Gurira, E! Online reported.
It would also be the NYC premiere of the play, which is set during the Liberian Civil War and follows the captive wives of a rebel officer.
Gurira has written a brilliant play, ripped from the headlines that looked at the terrible conflicts in post-colonial Africa with an eye that was both incisive and deeply compassionate said Public Theater artistic director Oskar Eustis said in a statement.
They were delighted to welcome the extraordinary Nyong'o in the vitally important play, he added.
Previews will begin in September end with October 14 as opening night.
