A major fire broke out at the Ballygunge Science Laboratory in Kolkata on Monday evening.
As many as 12 fire tenders have been rushed to the spot to douse off the flames.
The fire, which was seen spreading from the laboratory, had reached up to the eighth floor of the building and people were evacuated with the help of hydraulic ladders.
The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. Fire fighters are relentlessly battling the flames to bring the inferno under control.
