A meeting of major political parties called by Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli to resolve the existing differences over the Parliamentary Regulations has ended inconclusively.
The meeting was held at the Prime Minister's office in Baluwatar yesterday and was attended by top leaders of ruling coalition parties-CPN-UML, UCPN-Maoist, Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal (RPP-N) and Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Democratic (MJF-D)-ruling coalition parties and main opposition Nepali Congress, reports the Himalayan Times.
Due to disputes among the major parties about formation of the Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee (PHSC), parliamentary hearings for appointments of Chief Justice, 11 Supreme Court Justices and 21 ambassadors could not be held despite their nominations.
While the ruling partners have pleaded for a 15-member panel, the main opposition party has pleaded for retaining the 73-member body.
