Prime Minister Modi on Thursday assured that global investors will be given the red carpet welcome and won't have to face any red tape when they invest in the country.
"We have told investors from all over the world to participate in 'Make in India'. When they invest in India, they will get a red carpet, not red tape," the Prime Minister said, at a civic reception at the Mahatma Gandhi Institute here.
"We are taking forward our mission against corruption and moving towards transparency," he added.
Prime Minister Modi also said that the modern Indian wants development, not favours.
"When a man from our country goes to a distant land, he does not try to defeat anyone; rather he tries to win their heart. Today's generation wants change, they want development and opportunity, not favours," he said.
Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at the latter's statue at the Mahatma Gandhi Institute.
He also offered 'Gangajal' and prayed at the Ganga Talao, which is considered one of the most sacred Hindu places in Mauritius. He was assisted by priests at the temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.
Prime Minister Modi also addressed the National Assembly of Mauritius, stating that the island nation stands out as a 'bright beacon of democracy'.
He also commissioned the coast ship Barracuda, saying that the vessel will make the Indian Ocean safer and more secure.
