The chief of BJP's West Bengal unit, Rahul Sinha, on Sunday said that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's speeches lack substance and are full of abusive words, adding that it would take the ruling TMC down to the grave.
"I think with the more the Chief Minister gives speeches on behalf of the TMC, the more are the party's chances of going down to the grave. Anyway there is nothing more than use of abusive words in her speeches nowadays and the people of Bengal are against such culture," Sinha said.
Furthermore, he said that if the TMC wanted to give speeches and organize rallies, it should not obstruct other parties from doing the same.
"Mamata Banerjee was not scheduled to be the speaker at the TMC youth rally that is supposed to take place tomorrow, it is a recent development. However, we have no issue with that but they shouldn't obstruct other parties from doing the same," he added.
Earlier today, BJP President Amit Shah held a rally in the city after the Calcutta High Court granted him permission for the same.
Prior to his address, Shah expressed his delight to witness the huge gathering that had gathered at the Victoria Memorial Hall in Kolkata for the event.
"After reaching kolkata glad to see the huge support and gathering of BJP supporter and well wishers. I congratulate Bjp Bengal for this successful event," Shah shared on his Facebook post.
"After several hurdles and obstacles by the state government, i will address a public rally in Kolkata today. The permission given by the High court is the victory of masses," he added.
The ruling TMC in West Bengal had earlier stated that it would appeal against the court's decision.
