Manipur Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh on Saturday paid his tribute and placed wreaths on the coffins of the 18 army soldiers who were martyred in Manipur's Chandel District by insurgents two days ago.
Apart from the 18 killed, another 11 were injured.
The Manipur Chief Minister further termed the attack as one of the most unfortunate incidents.
The ambush occurred at around 8.30 am on Thursday when the convoy reached a place between Paralong and Charong villages.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Pranab Mukherjee and Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar have condemned the attack on army personnel.
