People of Manipur are celebrating the weeklong Rath Yatra popularly known as 'Kang Chingba'.
The main event of the formal beginning of the festival, which includes the pulling of the Kang, the traditional chariot, and offering seasonal flowers and fruits to Lord Jagannath, marks the nine-day long festivities.
The Kang was pulled at the Shree Shree Govindajee Temple complex here in Imphal East district.
A large number of devotees turned up in their traditional festival attires at the palace gate and temple to take part in the festival on Wednesday.
The ISKCON temple authority in Imphal also celebrates the festival by pulling Odisha's Puri-type mini kang (chariot) along the Imphal-Airport Road.
The festival, which will continue till July 14, will also witness a community feast on a daily basis.
