Manchester United striker Anthony Martial wants to leave the club after a three-season association with the Old Trafford, his agent has claimed.

"After considering all possibilities and options, Anthony wants to leave Manchester United," goal.com quoted Martial's agent Philippe Lanboley, as saying.

Martial, who joined United in 2015, had an impactful debut season in which he notched up 11 goals in 31 Premier League games he played under former manager Louis Van Gaal.

However, Martial saw his opportunities cut short under Jose Mourinho and following the arrival of forward Alexis Sanchez.

The player struggled to gain a spot in the starting XI with 12 of his 30 league appearances coming off the bench in 2017-18.

And Lamboley revealed that though the club are keen to retain his client, it is time for Martial to move on.

Lamboley did not reveal the reason for Martial's probable exit, but lack of opportunities was the most apparent explanation.

"There are many reasons, for now, it is too early to discuss it. Anthony will talk soon to go through that. Man United want to extend Anthony's deal and they do now want him to leave, but we have not come to an agreement for several months. I think that when Man United, who are the most powerful club, cannot come to an agreement after eight months it is because they really don't want to make him a key player" Lamboley said.

"The decision is related to that. It is a decision that has been thought through thoroughly. However, it is important to remember that he is under contract, Man United have the last word and we will respect the club's decision," he added.

The agent further said that Martial is quite disappointed to leave the club as he has shown a lot of love for the club and its supporters.

"Right now Anthony is disappointed because he has shown for three seasons the love he feels for the club and its fans. On top of that, I can tell you that without the fans' unconditional support Anthony would have already asked for a transfer," he said.

Martial has bagged many titles with United including EFL Cup, FA Cup and Europa League.
