Matthew Rhys is in negotiations to star in Warner Bros' upcoming project 'Jungle Book

The film, which will be helmed by Andy Serkis, will include the 40-year-old in the role of human character John Lockwood, and not as a voice star, Deadline.com reported.

Serkis will also voice Baloo the bear in the film and produce it along with 'Harry Potter' scribe Steve Kloves and Jonathan Cavendish, Serkis' partner at his Imaginarium production company.

The adaptation of the classic Rudyard Kipling novel was penned by Callie Kloves.

This film is different from the Jon Favreau's Disney Jungle Book project, and boasts an equally impressive A-list voice cast with Benedict Cumberbatch, Christian Bale and Cate Blanchett.
