The long-awaited bout between unbeaten US boxing champion Floyd Mayweather and Filipino politician and boxer Manny Pacquiao would surely be the richest fight in boxing history, with fans reportedly set to be charged more than 13,000 pounds for ringside seats.

Although the tickets have not gone on sale yet for the May 2 bout in Las Vegas, it still promises to be the richest fight in the history of the sport, with the event apparently on course to gross 260 million pounds and the two fighters splitting 160 million pounds.

That could result in ticket prices sky rocketing on re-sale websites for a place for the fans at the 16,800-strong MGM Grand Garden Arena, after Mayweather claimed that the Filipino 'needs the money', the Mirror reported.

Pacquiao has tax issues in the US and his native Philippines and according to the American has agreed to a 40 percent share of the fight purse.

Mayweather said that a lot of guys are forced to do things that they don't want to do, adding that he honestly believes that, at this particular time, even if Pacquiao didn't want to fight, he has no choice because his back is against the wall.

Mayweather claimed that the reason why Pacquiao's back is against the wall is because the Filipino needs the money and he doesn't.

There have also been suggestions that tickets might not even go on sale to the general public, given the high demand for the most highly anticipated fight for more than a decade.

However, some websites have already listed tickets for seats in the upper-tier for 2,660 pounds and for a hotel along with a ringside view fans would be charged 14,900 pounds.

Moreover, even fans watching the bout from their own home would be forced to part with 58 pounds and 6.50 pounds more for HD, due to a joint-broadcast deal between American networks Showtime and HBO, the report added.
