Actress Meera Syal, Joan Collins and John Hurt have been honoured in the latest New Year Honours list.
Syal, who is famous for her comedy roles in Goodness Gracious Me and The Kumars at No 42, will be receiving a CBE for her services to drama and literature, the BBC reported.
Veteran actor Hurt, who received two Oscar nominations for his roles in Midnight Express and The Elephant Man, has received a knighthood in the New Year Honours, while Actress and writer Joan Collins has been made a dame, along with poet laureate Carol Ann Duffy, TV presenter Esther Rantzen, actress Kristin Scott Thomas and fashion designer Mary Quant.
