Mexico is the only country in the world that has the highest number of kidnapping cases.
A study by the security company Control Risk found that 20 percent of all kidnapping cases worldwide in the first half of 2013 occurred in Mexico.
According to news.com.au, the study found that an estimated 70 percent of the cases involve people related to someone in the security forces.
Director of the Mexican secret service analysis department earlier said that though crimes such as murder went down in 2013, others such as kidnappings and extortion have increased.
Mexico's authority that monitors security, justice and rule of law said 1,139 kidnappings had been reported by August.
According to an investigation conducted by the statistics office, more than 105,000 people were kidnapped in Mexico last year, the report added.
