Michael Sam has revealed that he is gay and his teammates and coaches knew about it since August.
The 24-year-old American footballer, who could be the first openly homosexual player in the NFL said in an interview that he is proud of his sexuality and it's a big deal for him, CBS News reported.
He added that as no one has done this before and it is a "nervous" process, he wants to be a football player in the NFL.
Last year, NBA player Jason Collins announced he is gay after the season and Division III Willamette kicker Conner Mertenshad revealed last month that he is bisexual.
